We Need YOU to Protect Public Lands

Next week, the “Bundy Bill” or A.B. 408 will be heard in the Nevada Assembly Natural Resources committee. This is a dangerous piece of legislation, which once again threatens access to our public lands.

ACT NOW: Keep Public Lands in Public Hands

America’s 640 million acres of federal public lands are the backbone of our rich outdoor heritage. However, some would like to sell off YOUR public lands to the highest bidder and close off access forever. Please join us in the continued fight to keep public lands in public hands!

Speak Up For Your Southern Nevada Public Lands

Burbank Canyons is on its way to being Wilderness!

On February 12, Senators Heller and Reid teamed with Congressman Amodei to introduce the Douglas County Conservation Act of 2015, S. 472. Part of this legislation would designate 12,330 acres as wilderness the Burbank Canyons WSA in the Pinenut Range in Douglas County.  To see a map of this area, click here.

Friends of Nevada Wilderness was a part of the grassroots discussions over the past several years with Douglas County and other stakeholders. We are very excited to see this legislation moving forward to address a number of important conservation issues within the county. Thanks to all our supporters who attended meetings, tours and wrote letters!

This bill is another great example of how Nevadans continue to come together to solve issues in a bi-partisan way.
