Camping

Opportunities for camping are available through backpacking and horsepacking. This is the best way to explore the broad and convoluted summit of Morey Peak, which is much too extensive to thoroughly explore in a single day trip. There are no developed campgrounds or recreational facilities within the greater Morey Peak region. The designated dirt roads surrounding and cherry stem roads provide access for dispersed or boondock vehicle camping and access to day trips into the Wilderness. The South Sixmile Canyon Road is very rough and can even be impassible to 4X4 vehicles. Be forewarned that the multitude of "roads" shown in atlases and on GPS navigational layers often do not exist, or are in such poor shape that they are impassible to most vehicles and/or are excessively abusive to 4x4 vehicles, drivers, and passengers. See the Nevada Explorer Resources tab for more information about backcountry travel and safety.
