The Fandango has no established trails. The entire region is open for skilled explorers to enjoy on foot or on horseback. John Hart, in his book Hiking the Great Basin, describes access routes to 9,825-foot Mahogany Peak from the summit of the Sixmile Canyon Road. Beyond Mahogany Peak to the southwest, a long ridgeline through a series of high points divided by low meadowy passes provides opportunities for scenic and varied hiking. Where mountain mahgony grows thick, passage becomes very challenging and difficult.
The Fandango area is much more accessible than the difficult terrain of neighboring Morey Peak and offers open meadows and spectacular views of the towering peaks of the Morey Area.
