The Granite Banjo Wilderness has no established trails. The entire region is open for skilled explorers to enjoy on foot or on horseback. The easiest access to the highest summits of the Granite Range is from the dirt road system adjacent to the north boundary of the wilderness.  These roads can be extremely dangerous in wet conditions and are not maintained.  Many potential access routes to the wilderness cross or run adjacent to private land.  Please respect all private property and heed the posted signs.  For explorers looking for a challenge that honors the unique geophysical features of Granite Banjo, scrambling up from utility transmission corridor road along the southwestern side of the wilderness to the summit ridge provides an opportunity for a 4,000-foot grueling climb and ever-changing, awe inspiring vistas that improve with every foot-step of the climb.
