National Wildlife Refuges are areas that are critically important habitats for wildlife and create a sanctuary space in the face of increasing urbanization and loss of habitat. The refuges are important for humans too. In an uncertain world facing unprecedented obstacles, finding peace by connecting with the rhythms of nature is healing for the human spirit. Experience these stunning landscapes with our virtual gallery,  learn about the unique wildlife & ecologies of these special places, as told through the artistic visions of local artists. Proceeds from art sales support Nevada artists as well as Friends of Nevada Wilderness and our work protecting and stewarding your public lands.

In addition to the virtual gallery, we are hosting artist workshops. While the astrophotography workshop has already filled up, there is still room to join us for Plein Aire Painting with Dana Childs! On July 25th, Friends of Nevada Wilderness and local artist Dana Childs will lead an outdoor artistic experience celebrating Nevada’s scenic wild places. “Essentially what we do is trounce out into the wilderness and paint our interpretation of the beauty that surrounds us,” Dana Childs  “Inspiration is the key to all good painting, and getting outdoors and painting not only what we see, but merging that with how the space and experience makes us feel is key to creating excellent art.” Create something beautiful and learn a thing or two about Nevada’s unique ecology as we paint together. This will be a morning event beginning at 8 am and concluding before the afternoon heat in scenic Mt. Rose Wilderness. Masks encouraged, group size is  limited so RSVP to [email protected]
