Explore the Unexpected with Get Outdoors Nevada

Friends of Nevada Wilderness invites you to our April Wild Speaker Series. Our presenters will be Almendra Johnson & Aaron Leifheit, Program Directors for Get Outdoors Nevada. You may be familiar with southern Nevada’s ‘big’ public lands, but do you know why it’s important to explore and protect Las Vegas’s urban parks and trails? This program will introduce you to the region’s urban parks and trails, demonstrate how these areas act as stepping stones for urban residents, share Get Outdoors Nevada’s programs and efforts to connect people to the outdoors, and challenge you to reengage with parks and public lands in a new way. This will be an informative presentation about the Wilder side of our city you won't want to miss!

Get Outdoors Nevada, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formerly known as the Outside Las Vegas Foundation. Their name changed in 2018 because Get Outdoors Nevada celebrates ALL of Nevada’s amazing outdoor experiences. It is Get Outdoors Nevada’s mission and vision to connect Nevadans and visitors from all backgrounds and ages to the state’s diverse outdoor places through discovering and experiencing education, volunteerism, and outreach programs. They are committed to preserving Nevada’s public lands, urban trails, and community parks.

Every first Thursday of the month, Friends of Nevada Wilderness hosts a local environmental expert at REI Boca Park in their Community Room. This is a great event for folks who are interested in the outdoors to learn more about hikes, local habitat, and ways to get involved with conservation efforts.
