How to Have Fun Outdoors While Social Distancing
Join Friends for our May Wild Speaker Series Online. Jim Stanger will give a presentation on How to Have Fun Outdoors While Social Distancing. Jim is the president of Friends of Sloan Canyon, a non-profit organization who stewards on one of southern Nevada's hidden gems, Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area. Located just minutes from Henderson's Inspirada, it is some times a struggle to balance conservation with public access. Currently, trailheads are overcrowded and trash is being left behind on our public lands in Nevada and around the country. Jim will explain what we can do to protect the area during the pandemic as well as how to keep social distance and Leave No Trace behind. This will be an informative and interactive talk available via Zoom!
Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area’s 48,438 acres provide peace and solitude for those who visit the unique scenic and geologic features and extraordinary cultural resources. The centerpiece of the area is the Sloan Canyon Petroglyph Site, one of the most significant cultural resources in Southern Nevada. Archeologists believe the more than 300 rock art panels with 1,700 individual design elements were created by native cultures from the Archaic to historic era. (via: BLM website)
We will see you there!
**UPDATE**
The Wild Speaker Series will go online during the COVID-19 Pandemic for the safety of our staff and supporters. Please join us on Zoom for an online interactive experience. We will return to REI - Boca Park when their stores open in the near future.
