Camping
Opportunities for camping are available through backpacking and horsepacking. The limestone nature of Fencemaker Ridge prevents springs and streams from existing within this unit. Plan to carry all you own water or plan your trip when snow patches still linger on the highest slopes. There are no developed campgrounds or recreational facilities within the greater Fencemaker Ridge region. The designated dirt roads surrounding Fencemaker provide access for dispersed or boondock vehicle camping and access to day trips into the Wilderness. Please do not camp at Grayson Spring, as this area is an important watering location for regional wildlife. Be forewarned that the multitude of "roads" shown in atlases and on GPS navigational layers often do not exist, or are in such poor shape that they are impassible to most vehicles and/or are excessively abusive to 4x4 vehicles, drivers, and passengers. Check out Nevada Explorer Resources for more information about backcountry travel and safety.
