December Wild Speaker Series: Keeping Nevada Lands Wild

Keeping Nevada Lands Wild

Join Friends for our December Wild Speaker Series: "Keeping Nevada Lands Wild" in an online Zoom presentation.

On Thursday December 2nd we will be discussing wilderness land acquisition in Nevada! We will be joined by Wilderness Land Trust's Vice President and Senior Lands Specialist Aimee Rutledge as she discusses the history and processes of how some land is acquired from private owners for the sake of continuity and protection of wilderness. In order to preserve wilderness quality, organizations like the Wilderness Land Trust purchase private property and work with willing landowners to make sure their land is protected and remains wild.
We will learn the history of wilderness land acquisition in Nevada and will hear about how the Wilderness Land Trust has partnered with agencies and organizations in our state to help designate our incredible wilderness!

We'll wrap up with a Q&A session to answer all your questions about wilderness land acquisition in Nevada.  This will be an informative chat for the whole family!

Please register on zoom in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYsf-2grjgvEt2MO5w8jel8aPJywKlgo-dX

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.

Every first Thursday of the month at 7pm, Friends of Nevada Wilderness hosts a local environmental expert for folks who are interested in the outdoors to learn more about hikes, local habitat, and ways to get involved with conservation efforts.  Formerly in the REI Boca Park Community Room, the Wild Speaker Series is online during the COVID-19 Pandemic for the safety of our staff and supporters.  We will return to REI Boca Park in the near future and continue to make the Wild Speaker Series available virtually.
