Friends of Nevada Wilderness Board Member, Roberta Moore, and her husband Dave Moore are looking for a graduate student/writer who would like to pursue their craft in a quiet, pinyon pine/juniper woodland located in the foothills of Eastern Nevada’s South Snake Range, just below Great Basin National Park, 4 miles west of the small community of Baker. This residency is two months long (July and August, 2016). We offer without charge, a one bedroom, fully furnished apartment, with privacy and beautiful scenery. The resident will be responsible for their groceries and personal necessities. In return, we will require the resident to research, edit, scan photos and documents, and do graphic design and layout to create a finished family history book (ready for printing). The resident will be required to work 25 hours a week on this project for which we will pay $15.00 an hour. Internet access and cell phone coverage are available.

Before applying for this residency, please consider that we are located in a very remote part of Nevada. While Baker has three restaurants/bars, one small convenience store, the nearest grocery store and other amenities are 60 miles away in Ely, Nevada. The resident must have their own means of transportation. Drug use and any substance abuse will not be tolerated. This residency is directed to the serious writer who is responsible and who seeks a private and inspiring place for their own creative pursuit, plus the opportunity for income.
