It's a Mount Charleston Wilderness Monitoring Extravaganza!
Join us for a lovely stroll up Fletcher Canyon into Mount Charleston Wilderness to monitor the wilderness and to map out social trails! We will learn about the different qualities of Wilderness and how we can be better stewards on our public lands!
What: Wilderness monitoring and social trail mapping in Mount Charleston Wilderness along the Fletcher Canyon Trail
When: Sunday June 25, 2023 meeting at 9AM at the Fletcher Canyon Trail parking area
What you should bring: Bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, long sleeved clothing and pants if desired), at least two liters of water, wear sturdy shoes for hiking, any snacks you will need, and some lunch!
What we will bring: We will bring extra water, some snacks, and all the monitoring equipment we will need
We will be hiking Fletcher Canyon Trail, stopping at the slot canyon and turning back. In total the trail is about 4.1 miles. Wilderness monitoring needs to be conducted for at least four hours a session, so we can take our time and stop to smell the roses, eat snacks and lunch, stretch, etc. Prepare for a laid-back hike with your friends at Friends!
Only a maximum group of 12 people are allowed within Wilderness at a time, so space is limited! If you RSVP and find out you are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP so we can keep RSVPs open to folks who can attend.
