Twin Peaks (6592') Day Hike. Twin Peaks are northwest of the Smoke Creek Desert and just a few miles north of Burro Mountain. Our hike will be about 10-12 mi RT with about 1800' elevation gain. The north twin is the high point of the Twin Peaks Wilderness Study Area and should provide some pretty nice views of the Smoke Creek playa, as well as four or five other WSAs in the region. Most of these WSAs are part of the current Friends of Nevada Wilderness Wild Washoe Wilderness Campaign to provide permanent Wilderness protection to these areas. We'll learn about the current status of the campaign and what we can do to help assure success. No dog please! Leader: Larry Dwyer (775-745-6628; [email protected]). Strenuous.
