This will be an exploratory trip into the Mississippi Canyon area at the NE end of the Stillwater Range. Hikers should be prepared for up to 15 mi RT and as much as 3000-4000 ft of elevation gain. (It may be less, but you should be prepared). This canyon is reputed to be one of the prettiest places in the Stillwaters and home to a lovely trout stream. It is also part of the Stillwater Mountains Wilderness Study Area (WSA) so we'll learn about its current status and prospects for becoming a Wilderness Area. Contact leader for further details. No dogs. Leader: Larry Dwyer (775-745-6628; [email protected]). Strenuous.
