We're thrilled to announce the very first in-person spring monitoring training on May 15, 2021! Our awesome spring monitoring volunteers have already been surveying dozens of springs throughout the county, collecting tons of valuable data. Now, volunteers will be able to collect even more data and learn to use our water quality and flow equipment! This information is super important to understand the quality and quantity of water available to our wildlife.
This training is open to anyone who has watched the virtual springs monitoring training and wants to learn more or get some hands on practice! (Missed the virtual training? No problem--email [email protected] and we'll get you the recording.)
What to bring: sun protection, a face mask, comfortable clothing and shoes for being outside, something to write on/take notes with, water and snacks, and an outdoor chair if desired.
What to expect: A few hours of learning about and practicing spring surveying techniques at a cool spring complex! You'll get your hands a little wet and dirty trying out the equipment. The Harris springs are reachable via a very smooth dirt road off of Kyle Canyon Road that is passable in any vehicle. You'll be able to park along the road right before the spring and walk less than 10 minutes to the training site (Friends staff will help direct you). There are no bathrooms or services in the vicinity, although we'll have some extra water available.
More info will be sent in advance of the event to all RSVP's.
Space is limited, so register now! If the event is full, email [email protected] to join the waitlist or to get first dibs on the next in-person training (more coming next month!).
