Speak Up Against the Sprawling Esmeralda 7 Solar Project

We need YOU to speak up against the massive Esmeralda 7 industrial solar complex, which would sever key desert bighorn sheep migration corridors and destroy the solitude and wild of the stunning and rugged Proposed Esmeralda/Fish Lake Area of Critical Environmental Concern, submitted to the BLM for considering in August 2023. You can support protecting this wild Nevada gem by signing our petition, or by commenting to the BLM by October 24 - instructions below.

The Esmeralda/Fish Lake ACEC is 850,000 of intact landscape with stunning geological formations, incredible wildlife habitat untouched by humans, and a plethora of cultural sites. This area is threatened by the Esmeralda 7, a sprawling and ill-conceived green energy project. The area where the massive Esmeralda 7 industrial solar complex would go has not had a land use plan completed in over 25 years. Additionally, there is a BLM-designated solar energy zone nearby that already has a substation and existing infrastructure. However, instead of using the existing site, the BLM is proposing construction of a brand new parallel powerline in addition to this industrial solar complex in a totally undeveloped and beautiful part of our public lands.

Financially, Esmeralda 7 is not a good deal for the local economies - these projects will place a burden on the rural Esmeralda County and the county will receive no funding from these projects.

Friends of Nevada Wilderness fully supports green energy development, it is the placement and the scope of these projects that we take issue with and encourage you to speak up about.
