Restore Wildlife Habitat!
Join us in the Soldier Meadows Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) to remove unnecessary barbed-wire fence and directly improve wildlife habitat in this unique and beautiful ecosystem! We will be camped out Friday and Saturday nights and working Saturday to remove the old wire and fence posts. Barbed wire fence traps the threatened Sage Grouse and is a barrier of travel for many animals including Pronghorn Antelope. Join us for this fun and rewarding project, sign up today!

Information:
Difficulty: Moderate. Requires the ability to work with tools, carry heavy items for short distances, bend over, and do repetitive movements. The fence is along or near roads, which means we won't have to carry to material very far. Feel free to reach out to us and discuss the difficulty of the project if you have any concerns.
Food: For this project, yes! we will be offering some group meals. We are planning to do a big group dinner on Saturday night along with breakfast and coffee Sat/Sun. Volunteers are expected to provide their own lunches, snacks, and dinner Friday night.
Driving: At this time, FNW is not offering rides in our vehicles due to COVID safety concerns. For this project, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is not required to reach the campsites, but, high clearance may be necessary. This is subject to change
Specific Details: Details such as exact camping location, daily schedule, and weather-related factors will be provided to those who have RSVP'd on a date much closer to the project. Plans are subject to change. We will always give as much notice as possible when this happens.
COVID Safety: At this time we are following state and federal guidelines for our projects, so, fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask. This is subject to change.
Contact Info: Please email or call Chris Cutshaw with any questions or for further details. He can be reached at [email protected] and our office phone number: 775-324-7667.
