Become a Severe Weather Spotter!

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many Americans.  Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness as we become on-the-ground weather spotters for the National Weather Service!  We'll go over the basics of storm development, how to identify potential severe weather features, basic severe weather safety, how to report information, and more.

Once trained you'll be a SKYWARN® volunteer severe weather spotter, helping to keep our local community safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.  To obtain critical weather information, NOAA’s National Weather Service established SKYWARN® with partner organizations.  To learn more about SKYWARN®, visit their website by clicking here.
