While the Trump administration works to dismantle the 2001 Roadless Rule, Congress is pushing to expedite the destruction of our wildlands with H.R. 7695, which would repeal the 2001 Forest Service Roadless Rule and REQUIRE new road construction, opening millions of acres of National Forest lands to increased wildfire threats and increased habitat fragmentation.

H.R. 7695 would “provide that the final rule titled ‘Special Areas; Roadless Area Conservation’ and issued on January 12, 2001 (66 Fed. Reg. 3244) shall have no force or effect and require the Secretary of Agriculture to construct certain roads on National Forest System lands, and for other purposes.”
On Thursday, May 21st at 10am Eastern Time, lawmakers will decide whether H.R. 7695 advances out of the Federal Lands Subcommittee of the House Natural Resources Committee. Nevada Representatives Susie Lee and Mark Amodei are members of this committee and they need to hear your voice NOW!
These areas conserve incredible habitat and resources that are nearly impossible to restore once they’re gone: watersheds, coldwater fisheries, secure wildlife habitat, and the kind of backcountry recreation and solitude we all love.
