Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness in the beautiful Santa Rosa Mountains as we mark fences to improve the habitat and survival rate of the Greater Sage Grouse. Fence collisions by sage-grouse can be widespread and fatal. According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), fence marking can reduce sage-grouse strikes by up to 83 percent. We will be marking areas where known sage-grouse strikes have occurred and where fences are near active leks.
We will be leaving the office at 11:00 am and volunteers can either request to ride in our vehicles or meet us at the campsite. Friends of Nevada Wilderness will provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as a delicious dinner after work on Saturday evening. We ask that you provide your own lunches and dinner for Friday evening as well as camping gear and plenty of water!
