This training is held by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. No friends of Nevada Wilderness staff will be involved in the training.
Assist the Nevada Department of Wildlife in counting sage grouse during the strutting season. Leks, or strutting grounds are located throughout the state and typically involve travel to outlying areas. Volunteers should be in good physical shape and prepared to spend time outside in inclement weather. A four wheel drive high clearance vehicle is a must for this activity.
NOTE; VOLUNTEERS MUST ATTEND A TRAINING SESSION on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
Notes: Volunteers should be prepared to spend a very long day in the field, starting at 3 am.
Volunteers should bring a GPS unit, good quality binoculars, cameras, and be prepared for any weather conditions.
