Central Nevada Prominent Peaks: Cain, Tobin and Moses (exploratory). The Augusta Mountains Wilderness Study Area (WSA) lies at the intersection of Churchill, Lander and Pershing counties with the high point being Cain Mountain (8409', prominence 3199'). Join the Sierra Club to explore this WSA while attempting to climb Cain and then move on to attempt two other prominent peaks: Mount Tobin (9775', prominence 4831') in the Tobin Range WSA and Mount Moses (8649', prominence 3549'), but not necessarily in that order. While exploring these areas we'll also discuss the latest Friends of Nevada Wilderness thoughts on how best to protect the wilderness characteristics of all three areas. The trip will involve dry camping at locations to be determined in the field and substantial hiking/climbing on three successive days. High clearance 4WD vehicles will be necessary. Please contact leader for further details and screening. No dogs. Please contact the trip leader Larry Dwyer (775-745-6628; [email protected]) for more details and to RSVP. Strenuous.
