As the Presidential race heats up, public lands are quickly becoming an issue. However, as we all know, public lands belong to all Americans and shouldn’t be subjected to partisan politics. Please join us at a pro public lands rally this Monday evening, February 22nd to show your strong support for keeping America’s public lands in public hands.
This week, presidential candidate Ted Cruz begun a targeted ad in Nevada which proclaims he “will fight day and night to return full control of Nevada’s lands to…” the state. This ad echoes extremist views that want to seize control of our public lands – lands where Nevadans go to hunt, fish, camp, and hike – and sell them off to the highest bidder. These attacks on our public lands are direct attacks on our Western way of life and we want to show Cruz – along with any other candidate who wants to seize control of our lands – that Nevada’s want to keep our lands public.
Our pro-public lands rally is a chance for us to show our strong support for America’s public lands and why we want them to remain just that – public. We do not want them to be sold off to the highest bidder and have our access and outdoor heritage robbed from us. We need to ensure that future generations are able to experience the rich outdoor heritage we all enjoy today.
We need a significant number present to show that people care about public lands in Nevada. Public lands are not a partisan issue. People from both parties love public lands and we hope all presidential candidates will support keeping America’s public lands in America’s public hands. The rally will be held immediately prior to a separate rally hosted by Cruz at the Boys and Girls Club in Reno.
This is a non-partisan family-friendly rally – this is not a protest against Cruz or any other candidate. Please do not bring any negative or political attack signs. Please do bring signs that express your love of public lands and why you want them to remain public; public lands related garb is always welcome (your favorite hunting jacket, fishing gear, binoculars, etc.)
We hope you will be able to join us at this important pro-public lands rally. Please bring your friends and family!
