National Trails Day 2017! (Southern Nevada)

Each year, on the first Saturday of June, Americans celebrate National Trails Day by finding their own adventure at thousands of events across the country.  Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness and REI as we celebrate National Trails Day in Mt. Charleston Wilderness!  We'll be using our muscles to maintain Trail Canyon, correcting and preventing problems that cause trail damage, such as erosion.  The task to protect and maintain the more than 200,000 miles of trails in the U.S. requires a collaborative effort among trail clubs, organizations, government agencies, and most importantly YOU, passionate trail advocates and stewards.

Level: Moderately Strenuous.  Trail Canyon is a steep trail at a high elevation (7700 - 9300 ft).  This project will involve a round-trip hike of up to four miles while carrying tools, as well as food and water for yourself.

What You'll Need:  Sturdy, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt.  A water reservoir or multiple water bottles.  We'll have plenty of water for refills.  Sunscreen and snacks for yourself.

Thanks to our awesome partners at REI, lunch will be provided!  REI is an incredible partner of Friends, helping with efforts to increase access to outdoor places and in so much more.  REI promotes national messages or initiatives that encourage the protection of public lands, outdoor stewardship, and that a life outdoors is a life well lived, such as #OptOutside.
