Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness on National Public Lands Day as we celebrate something we all share: public lands! From our neighborhood parks or beaches to our nation’s awe-inspiring national monuments, public lands are the places where we live, learn, play, exercise, and relax. In fact, over 30% of America’s land is public land. Now it’s your turn to give back!
We're teaming up with Friends of Gold Butte and the Bureau of Land Management to give back to Gold Butte National Monument on National Public Lands Day. Often referred to as Nevada's Piece of the Grand Canyon, Gold Butte is a treasure trove of cultural, historic, and natural wonders. We'll meet in the morning, then split into teams to accomplish various projects throughout Gold Butte. We'll rehabilitate fragile desert habitat and install signs for the Gold Butte Backcountry Byway.
All you'll need to bring is a water bottle, lunch, and sunscreen for yourself. Plan to wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes. We'll have plenty of water, snacks, and all of the gear we'll need to make a difference. We're also providing breakfast and a t-shirt for everyone who joins!
Getting to the project site requires a high-clearance, 4x4 vehicle. We do have a limited number of seats available. Please let us know if you need one and we'll save you a seat. If you do have a high-clearance, 4x4 vehicle and are willing to help carpool, please let us know.
