National Public Lands Day

Did you know more than 80% of Nevada is public land? That means more than 80% of Nevada is land for you and me to roam, explore, and enjoy - with friends, family, or going solo. We use public lands 365 days a year...what better way to celebrate and give back than the annual National Public Lands Day, a nation-wide event for volunteers and outdoor enthusiasts to help improve and enhance our public lands? Check out more info below and we hope to see you out in wild Nevada soon!

Desert Dace Days in Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area!

What better way to get out and celebrate your Public Lands then to join all the northern Nevada conservation groups and agency partners out on the Black Rock Desert NCA for National Public Lands Day? Join us and our partners the Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Outdoor School, Friends of Black Rock-High Rock, Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for a great weekend in Wild Nevada.

This weekend will be the first annual Desert Dace Days with a special project to help expand Desert Dace habitat in the Soldier Meadows Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). We'll also be doing some maintanence work on the public-use Soldier Meadows cabin to ensure it's in tip-top shape before the fall/winter season.

Lastly, don't forget your Dutch Ovens! We will be hosting the ever popular Dutch Oven Cook Off!!! Don't feel like tending hot coals for an hour? It is a potluck so other dishes are needed to fill in the cracks! Click here for details on this Nationwide event.
