Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the BLM Surprise Field Office as we venture into the back country of the Black Rock NCA and remove a few miles of an old rusty fence just north of Little High Rock Canyon Wilderness. We plan to camp in the mouth of Little High Rock Canyon. A great location and hidden gem of the NCA.
Hot coffee, tea, and cocoa along with a continental breakfast will be provided both Saturday and Sunday. In addition, we will cook up a good ole' pot lickin' Dutch Oven meal for Saturday evening's dinner. Plan on bring your own lunch and snacks along.
If have never pulled a fence, it is one of the most rewarding jobs. Removing old un-needed barbed wire fence is a huge improvement to wildlife habitat, notably Sage Grouse and Antelope. Reducing strikes and tangles will promote a stronger wild population and remove the mark of man in the Wilderness.
