Join us for MLK Day of Service to kick off a year of giving back to our community! Martin Luther King, Jr Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a day of service – a "day on, not a day off." It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to address our communities' most pressing problems. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions, and moves us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community."
We'll spend MLK Day protecting Nevada's wild lands through on-the-ground restoration and outreach. Just south of Jean dry lake, we'll use our muscles to install a kiosk to spread the work about responsible recreation. We'll also install a vehicle barrier to separate areas that are open to OHV use from the South McCullough Wilderness, which is protected for more primitive recreation. There's no experience necessary, just a passion for the outdoors!
What You'll Need: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. Sunscreen, a water bottle, lunch, and snacks for yourself.
