Spend a day in Mt. Charleston Wilderness with Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the US Forest Service! We'll work to install a 12 post and cable barrier in McFarland Canyon. Our efforts will keep Mt. Charleston's ice cold springs, invigorating mountain air, and evergreen forests natural and protected!
This project involves a hike of up to 6 miles round trip and tough digging. We'll be hiking at an elevation of 7000 - 8000 ft, so the air will be thinner and we'll get winded easier. The Back Country Horsemen of Nevada, Bristlecone Chapter have carried the tools and materials to the site, so all we'll need to bring is our water and lunches!
What You'll Need:
- Sturdy, close-toed shoes.
- Long pants and a long sleeved shirt.
- At least three liters of water for yourself. I recommend bringing four.
- A lunch and snacks for yourself.
