On Thursday, December 14th the Friends of Nevada Wilderness organized a workday for select volunteers along the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness boundary within the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Two volunteers (Barry & Susan) and I worked to install new wilderness signs.

We installed thirty-three new wilderness signs to replace burned or destroyed signs. During our sign replacement project, we also managed to clean up hundreds of pounds of trigger trash, including: four full garbage bags of debris, four televisions, one road sign, one stereo, one sofa and dozens of bottles and bullet casings among other objects. Finally, we identified wilderness boundary incursions for future GPS tracking.

We will be continuing this work in Lovell Canyon, along with other grant deliverables, as we welcome in the New Year.
