Kick off the Spring by Volunteering in Mt Rose Wilderness!
Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness in partnership with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) for their annual event, the Great Community Clean Up! This fun and rewarding project provides the opportunity to directly benefit the Wilderness by removing invasive plants from the Mt. Rose Wilderness. Using shovels, we will work to reduce the population of the invasive Musk Thistle. Invasive plants have many negative impacts on the native environment. They out-compete native plants for resources, increase soil erosion, damage important wildlife habitats, and increase fire danger. The work is rewarding and you get to experience some truly beautiful country, all right next to Reno. From the trailhead, we will hike 1-3 miles into the Mt.Rose Wilderness, partially off-trail. Join us for a great outing into our Public Lands and RSVP today!
