Leap (Day) to it, and Gate 'er Done! We're installing a gate at the southern boundary of Desert National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, February 29th - Leap Day!
I can't think of a better way to spend Bonus Day, February 29, than giving back to our Public Lands!
Leap on this opportunity to install a turnstile gate in the fence on the southern boundary of DNWR, just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Corn Creek Visitor Center.
I hope you'll join me at the Corn Creek Visitor Center at 9:00am on Saturday, February 29 to install a turnstile gate with pass-through for hikers. This gate will help prevent illegal incursions by off-road vehicles into the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, while still allowing hikers and wildlife to walk through. The worksite is a short drive (less than 1 mile) down an unpaved road, a 4x4 and high clearance are recommended! We do have a few seats in our truck, please contact me when you RSVP if you need a seat.
What We'll Have: Tools, personal protective equipment for everyone, snacks, water, all the materials we'll need, and good vibes!
What You Should Bring: long pants, long sleeves, closed toe shoes, a water bottle or your hydration system of choice, sunscreen, a hat, and more good vibes!
We should be wrapped up and back at the Visitor Center by 1:00pm! Pack a lunch and enjoy the trails around Corn Creek if you're looking for a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.
