50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Celebratory Camp-out

Families, volunteers, and wilderness enthusiasts will gather together on July 4th weekend in the Black Rock Desert National Conservation Area to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act and America the beautiful.

Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness, the Bureau of Land Management, Friends of Black Rock/High Rock, and Nevada Outdoor School in this patriotic camp-out in tribute of our wild lands and the historic act that helped shape them. This event is one of hundreds across the country throughout 2014 to recognize the continuing benefits of America's wilderness legacy.

 

Activities will include:

  • Guided hikes to explore the areas
  • Guest speakers
  • Writer's workshop
  • Photography contest
  • Poetry contest
  • Dutch oven cook-off
  • Awards ceremony
  • "Open-mic" campfire poetry & storytelling
  • and so much more!

What You Need to Know:

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday breakfasts will be included.

Friday night will be a potluck style dinner.

Saturday night is Dutch Oven Cook-Off! Enter your prize-winning dish or bring a side dish to share.

**Remember to bring your own lunches, utensils, and chairs.

Fireworks and sparklers are not permitted.
