Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness for our 8th Annual Alternative Spring Break!! This week of outdoor service and adventure is extremely rewarding and creates memories that last forever.
Help us restore habitats in the Pahranagat and Desert National Wildlife Refuges! We're partnering with the US Fish & Wildlife Service to provide you with a unique experience during your spring break. This is a multi-day project with 5 nights of camping on the shore of Upper Pahranagat Lake, starting Sunday evening. Monday through Thursday, we'll restore fragile desert habitat for bighorn sheep, desert tortoise, and southwestern willow flycatchers. There is no experience necessary - we'll provide all of the gear and information that you'll need.
In the evenings we'll enjoy gourmet camp dinners, learn from local experts about our environment, try our hand at using an agave roasting pit, and stargaze at Nevada's dark skies. We'll also have time to explore the areas that we're working to protect. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about our local environment, experience cultural resources, and meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

We ask for a $50 deposit to confirm your commitment, which will be fully refunded when you join us for Alternative Spring Break. The deposit helps us accomodate as many people to participate as we can. We'll send more information about the deposit and Alternative Spring Break once you RSVP.
The trip is free; all meals, gear, and transportation to project sites are provided due to a generous grant from Barrick. This is the fourth year Barrick has provided funds for us to host the event and get students out on the ground to accomplish critical restoration projects in Nevada while gaining experience in the natural resources field.
