Join Friends of Nevada Wilderness for our sixth annual Alternative Spring Break!! This week of outdoor service and adventure is extremely rewarding and creates memories that last forever. Contact [email protected] to join the waitlist.
We are partnering with the National Park Service at Lake Mead National Recreation Area to provide students with a unique experience during spring break. This is a multi-day project with 4 nights of camping on the shores of Lake Mohave, starting Sunday evening. Monday through Thursday, we will improve vital desert habitat in both Spirit Mountain and Bridge Canyon Wilderness areas. In the evenings we'll eat gourmet camp dinners, hear from local experts about Southern Nevada's environment, try our hand at bird watching, and stargaze through telescopes. We'll also have time to explore the areas that we're working to protect. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about our local environment, experience cultural resources, and get to know like-minded folks.
The trip is free; all meals, gear, and transportation to project sites are provided due to a generous grant from Barrick Gold. This is the second year Barrick Gold has provided funds for us to host the event and get students out on the ground to accomplish critical restoration projects in Clark County while gaining experience in the natural resources field. There is no experience necessary - we'll provide all of the gear and information that you'll need.
We do ask for a $20 deposit to confirm your commitment, which will be fully refunded if you join us for Alternative Spring Break.
Alternative Spring Break is generously sponsored by Barrick Gold.
