The Art of Birding: From Earth Day to Migratory Bird Day
Friends of Nevada Wilderness will be hosting a special event on Earth Day 2021 with our friends at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Join Ranger Josh of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge Complex and Sara Wolman, Visual Information Specialist of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the 2021 World Migratory Bird Day Artist as they discuss what it means to be an artist working in conservation, the importance of protecting migratory birds, and how both the Desert NWR and Arctic NWR have more in common than some might think. This will be an educational presentation to get the public ready for World Migratory Bird Day.
World Migratory Bird Day is observed twice a year during the second Saturday in May and again on the second Saturday in October. The goal is to raise awareness of issues affecting migratory birds and to inspire action around the world to take measures for their conservation. The next World Migratory Bird Day is May 8th. We hope you will get outside and practice the art of birding then and any other time you feel so inspired!
