This is the sign-up page for the final Mt Rose Seed Spreading event of fall/winter 2021. It looks like there will be some storms this week and some more next week, so we're looking to get the rest of our seeds on the ground this coming Sunday. Help us restore native ecosystems by spreading native, pollinator-friendly species, over habitat that was treated for invasive plants this past Spring.
Please read the details below and thanks for your interest in volunteering!
Details:
Time: Meet at 10 am. We should be finished by mid-afternoon
Location: Hunter Creek Trailhead
What to Bring: A backpack with 2+ liters of water, snacks/lunch, sturdy hiking shoes, rain jacket, a warm layer, and enough room in your bag for carrying 10-20 lbs of seeds (the seeds will take up about the room of a sleeping bag or a big jacket)
The Work: The hardest part of the work is hiking and carrying the seeds. We will hike about 1.5 miles of the trail and then off-trail for a bit and with a creek crossing. Some of the hiking will be off-trail up and down steep terrain. The seeds will weigh between 10 and 20 lbs for each person.
