$25 for the films, reception and a discount Friends of Nevada Wilderness membership!

Doors Open at 5:30pm • Films Start at 6:30pm

The reception brings together a number of great local green businesses and organizations. A food truck will be on site, as well as wine and beer for purchase.

And as always, there will be a raffle of great prizes...everyone gets a raffle ticket!

This annual community event offers an evening of short films addressing environmental issues that affect our region. A reception in the Historic Schoolhouse lobby offers a chance to meet other non-profit sponsor groups and businesses, sample food, and perhaps win a raffle prize (or two!). All proceeds benefit Friends of Nevada Wilderness.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started in 2003 by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL). The 4-day event features over 125 award-winning films and welcomes over 80 guest speakers, celebrities, and activists who bring a human face to the environmental movement. SYRCL is now sharing their success with other organizations to bring the festival to over 100 communities nationwide. It is building a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal of using film to inspire activism. With the support of their National Partners: Clif Bar, Mother Jones, Patagonia, Orion Magazine, Kleen Kanteen, and Sierra Nevada Brewing, the festival is able to reach an even larger audience in tour venues coast to coast.

Our Las Vegas festival program is specially designed to address issues that are relevant to wilderness and environmental protections, and will feature short films that look at themes of water conservation, wildlife protection, environmental activism, and outdoor recreation. The event enjoys regular support from a network of other regional non-profit groups and sponsors, some of whom set up tables in the theater lobby for our opening reception. We continue to work to make this film festival a lasting and rewarding annual event for Las Vegas, and to inspire our community to enjoy and protect our wild and scenic places close to home.

Check out the some of the films here!

A special thank you to our sponsors!
