We have changed our campsite!
We have updated our Black Rock Rendezvous location. We are going to camp about 1 mile from the second 12 mile access point.
This location is on the path to the base of the Cassidy Mine Road entrance on playa. We will clearly mark the path along the edge of the playa to our campsite.
The playa along the shoreline is safe to drive upon to our camp location. But, do not drive towards the middle, it is still very wet and you will get stuck. Do not try to access the playa at the first 12 mile access point; there is still standing water in the tracks. This location will allow all participants a safe entrance and exit to/from the playa to our camp location. And, it will lessen our impact on the playa surface.
Driving directions and maps will be posted and available at Friends of Black Rock-High Rock at 320 Main St. in Gerlach. We will also post driving directions at the kiosks at the 12 mile entrance.

We are gearing up for the 12th Annual Black Rock Rendezvous. Set aside Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29th for another great time in the desert!
We plan to camp below Cassidy Mine on the playa, but this is subject to change due to weather and runoff. Partners this year again include Nevada Outdoor School, Friends of Black Rock-High Rock, and the BLM. We look forward to another great Dutch Oven Competition, so dust out your oven’s and start testing your secret recipes.
Talks will cover topics from Invasive Weeds, to Pikas, to Rockets, Art, and Public Lands. Tours will include petroglyphs, plants identification, rockhounding, and back for the 2nd year in a row, a Dutch Oven 101 class.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to install Wilderness Boundary Signs as well as restore habitat within Calico Mountains Wilderness.
Nevada Outdoor School will be hosting Kid's Camp this year. This is a great opportunity to let kids learn all about the desert and outdoor ethics.
