Wilderness Area Status Designated Wilderness Area Management Managing Agency: National Park Service Area Description The Jimbilnan Wilderness adjoins the Pinto Valley Wilderness, which lies directly to the west. Lake Mead laps upon its east side. It consists of the upper canyons of three major washes which drain from the edge of a plateau east toward Lake Mead. The canyons are rugged. Elevations range from 2,700 to roughly 3,000 feet. The odd name is a combination of Jim, Bill and Nancy, the National Park Service employees who surveyed the area.
