Wilderness Area Status Wilderness Study Area Management Managing Agency: Bureau of Land Management Area Description The China Mountain WSA is on the east slope of the Tobin Range. The area encompases a high plateau, steep sliffs and rolling hills on the east slope. Elevantions range from 5,000 to 8,842 feet. Two main canyons and several smaller canyons support sagebrush with some pinyon-juniper and riparian vegetation along the canyon bottoms. The WSA measures about 7 miles long and 3 miles wide. Hiking, camping, rock climbing and nature study are good here. The China Mountain plateau and the Hoffman and Lee Canyons are exceptionally scenic. Hoffman Canyon supports a fair fishery habitat for brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout. This Wilderness Study Area is a component of the Bureau of Land Management's National Conservation Lands.
