We LOVE to Celebrate National Trails Day!

May 31, 2022 -

We are excited to once again head up to Steven’s Camp in far Northern Washoe County June 3 - 5 to celebrate National Trails Day and give back to our public lands.

We’ll join other conservation partners to cut overgrown brush and remove obstacles like fallen trees to make the Upper High Rock Canyon Trail safe for another season of hikers. We’ll also touch up the public use cabin nearby.

This is one of our favorite volunteer outings of the year because it includes a lot of delicious camp food and camaraderie. It’s also a place packed with history. High Rock Canyon cradles a section of the Emigrant Trail, a combination of the Oregon, Mormon and California trails, that historians say accommodated a half million or more emigrants in the mid 19th century.

Our volunteer slots filled up quickly for this project, but we have many more fun and rewarding opportunities in northern and southern Nevada. Check them out and sign up here!
