Seed Stewards in Mt. Rose Wilderness

UPDATE: Stewardship comes in many forms for our staff. Last week, Nora and Chris hiked into Mt Rose Wilderness, just before the winter storms, to spread native seed in areas we have been removing Musk Thistle for almost a decade.

After so many seasons of hard work fighting invasive species in this area, we are finally ready to begin the next phase. This is an exciting development for our Mt Rose invasive weed program that will hopefully increase the impact of our removals by restoring native plants to these impacted areas. Altogether, the crew of two spread 20 lbs of seed over approximately 7 acres along Hunter Creek. The re-seeding has lots of potential as a fun, simple volunteer project and we look forward to getting volunteers out there with us in the future.
