Earth Day 2020

Happy Earth Day! 2020 is a particularly special anniversary, Wednesday marks the 50th year of the Earth day movement! That’s half a century of conservation and conscious action toward creating a more sustainable relationship with the environment. Earth Day began as a unified response to our environment in crisis, culminating in 20 million Americans taking to the streets across the nation on April 22, 1970 to protest environmental ignorance, unsustainable practices, and demand a new way forward for our planet.

Earth Day is a time to come together to celebrate the Earth and create a day of action to protect our precious environment! How will you join the movement?

While the events we were all looking forward to this week have been postponed for our safety, there are still meaningful ways you can engage, learn, and advocate for the planet!

Friends of Nevada Wilderness will be hosting our Live at Lunch at noon this Wednesday. Join us on our Facebook page, our stewardship team will be leading an interactive workshop making window signs celebrating Earth day and helping keep our neighborhoods connected and informed! Another way to celebrate if you are able, is to become a member of Friends of Nevada Wilderness. Your membership helps us continue our important work protecting and stewarding Nevada’s wild places and is an excellent way that you can take action for your local environment. Together, regardless of distance, we can come together to protect the future of our planet!
