Camping

The best way to experience the Tule Peak wild lands is through hiking, backpacking, or by horseback.  There are developed campsites featuring full hook-ups available at the Pyramid Lake Marina and RV Park about 10 miles east of Tule Peak. Dispersed camping is also available along the shore of Pyramid Lake.  For more information about camping availability and permits for Pyramid Lake, visit the Pyramid Lake Website.

Dispersed/boondocking camping is available in the Bureau of Land Management managed lands adjacent to Tule Peak on the southeast side in the Bishop Badlands/Monkey Condos area.  The access is via a system of dirt roads that can also provide access for day trips into the Tule Peak area. Because of its close proximity to Reno, this access area is heavily used.  Please use the best Leave-No-Trace practices while visiting and staying in this area.  Be forewarned that the multitude of "roads" shown in atlases and on GPS navigational layers often do not exist, or are in such poor shape that they are impassible to most vehicles and/or are excessively abusive to 4x4 vehicles, drivers, and passengers. See the Nevada Explorer Resources tab for more information about backcountry travel and safety.
