11/8-10/2013 Lunar Crater Route Restoration

Please join us as we will be making history. We will be hosting our first ever volunteer project in partnership with the BLM’s Tonopah Field Office.  We will meet at the offices in Reno and Las Vegas for ride sharing and caravan on Friday afternoon. Project starts at 8:00 am on Saturday.  The project site is located approximately 85 miles east of Tonopah, NV.

We will be erasing the trace by restoring two illegal routes.  We have work for all ability levels. Volunteers need to have their own personal camping equipment (equipment list is available upon request) and provide their own lunch & dinner on Friday night (breakfast & Sat dinner will be provided by Friends of Nevada Wilderness). We will work Saturday on two projects and then on Sunday we will tour the Lunar Crater Scenic Byway. Please note - sturdy closed toed shoes, long pants and long sleeve shirt, hardhat and gloves are required during volunteer work. Adult work gloves, safety glasses and hardhat will be provided. Because of the tools and physical labor involved in the work, this event is for folks 16 years of age and older.

To RSVP or for more information about this volunteer opportunity please contact Kurt Kuznicki, Southern Nevada director at 775 324-7667 or [email protected].  Participants must be at least 16 years of age to participate. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have a signed Parental Consent form.
