The Carson City District of the BLM is currently accepting comments on their Resource Management Plan (RMP) and their “preferred alternative” includes many areas that meet “Lands with Wilderness Characteristics” (LWC) criteria. However, Petersen Mountain was not included. During this hike, we will discuss the RMP and how you can help Petersen Mountain to be included in the BLM plan.

Come enjoy panoramic views from the high point (7841') of the Petersen Mountain Range that straddles the California-Nevada border just north of Reno and experience the solitude and beauty of this area that is so close to Reno/Sparks.

Difficulty: Moderately strenuous
