End Date: 6/6/2010
Location: On national forest lands about 40 miles N of Winnemucca, NV
State Region: Northwest Nevada
Event Type: Stewardship
Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the Nevada Outdoor School are proud to sponsor this two-day, 'hands-on' backpacking course designed to enhance your understanding of Leave No Trace practices and ethics.
You will be introduced to concepts of Leave No Trace (LNT) while increasing your confidence and effectiveness in practicing these important skills and teaching them to others.
Participants should have some backpacking experience along with all the appropriate gear. Please contact us with your questions on gear and experience.
Instruction will concentrate on incorporating low-impact techniques in your own backcountry experience and learning how to communicate LNT skills to a broader audience. This course will make you ask complex questions about your values and how they align with the future of the areas you love.
Each participant will pick one principle about which to teach a 20-minute module. The dialogue will be fun, stimulating, and participants will come away with a new way of seeing the places they live and recreate in.
