Camping

Opportunities for camping are available through backpacking and horsepacking. This is the best way to explore this extensive area, which is much too big to thoroughly explore in a single day trip. There are no developed campgrounds or recreational facilities within the greater Desatoya Mountains region. The designated dirt roads surrounding and cherry stem roads provide access for dispersed or boondock vehicle camping and access to day trips into the Wilderness. Be forewarned that the multitude of "roads" shown in atlases and on GPS navigational layers often do not exist, or are in such poor shape that they are impassible to most vehicles and/or are excessively abusive to 4x4 vehicles, drivers, and passengers. See the Nevada Explorer Resources tab for more information about backcountry travel and safety.
