Celebrate National Trails Day as a Wilderness Weed Warrior!

Help us Celebrate National Trails Day as we enjoy the wonderful Hunter Creek Trail and the Mt. Rose Wilderness.

Due to the high heat expected for Saturday we will be meeting at the trail head by 6:45 am to get an early start.

Musk Thistle and Perennial Pepperweed are a nasty plants that have drastic affects to the watershed. Out-competing native plants, noxious weeds can steal resources, grow into dense mono-cultures, and affect wildlife and soil quality.

Join us as we head into the Mt. Rose Wilderness to continue efforts to reduce populations sizes and densities. With shovel in hand, we will hike to known locations. This is a great way to spend the day hiking in our wonderful backyard Wilderness while lending a hand.

We will be partnering with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and the USFS for this project. In addition to pulling weeds, there will be a trail work project happening.

We plant to work from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. to avoid working in the heat.
