Protect Our Homelands Film Tour - Las Vegas

Join the Las Vegas Band of Paiutes, Friends of Nevada Wilderness, and the Sierra Club for the Las Vegas stop of the "Protect our Homelands" film tour!  This will be an evening dedicated to National Wildlife Refuge defense.  Decisions made now could forever alter the wild we leave our children.

About the film: The Arctic Refuge is one of the world's last untouched wild places.  For hundreds of generations, the Gwich’in people of Alaska and northern Canada have depended on the caribou that migrate through the Arctic Refuge.  With their traditional culture threatened by oil extraction and climate change, two Gwich’in women are continuing a decades-long fight to protect their land and future.

This event will feature a short film, "The Refuge," on the issue, the opportunity to hear from members of the Gwich’in Nation who have traveled from the Arctic to raise an alarm, as well as local voices about similar efforts at home, and how best to join in the efforts.
